The Position
UTRU is seeking an experienced professional to support its national program initiatives. The Program Manager will be responsible working with the Program Director and the Residency for Residencies Program (RRP) Director to design and deliver all UTRU programming including, but not limited to: (i) the development and revision of quality standards and the codification of the residency model; (ii) UTRU's innovative Residency for Residencies Program (RRP), which provides support to emerging districts, universities and non-profits interested in launching a residency program; (iii) consulting to emerging residency programs in key districts around the country; and (iv) the development of a professional learning community among residency programs nationally.
Responsibilities
- Learn the intricacies of the residency model and variances between and among programs, through site visits, meetings and materials development
- Collaborate on the revision of UTRU Standards for Quality Teacher Residency Programs to reflect new learning and innovations from research and existing programs
- Design, write and edit curriculum materials as part of the organizations initiative to codify the residency model
- Support the Program Director and RRP Director in the development and delivery of the 2-year RRP program
- Act as lead consultant to new residency programs in key districts around the county by providing on-going support on all aspects of program development, both remotely and on-site
- Facilitate goal-setting and monitor progress of new residency programs
- Plan and deliver professional development to emerging programs, utilizing a variety of strategies to support a community of learners
- Contribute to the UTRU intranet and website by developing, cataloging and updating materials on residency programs
- Support the development of residency program "working groups" where promising practices among residencies can be shared and improved upon
Requisite Qualifications & Experience
Education and Experience
- Minimum of master's degree
- Solid knowledge of K-12 education, with an emphasis on teacher preparation
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the field of education or project management
- Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering teaching curriculum
- Must have classroom experience
- Experience in teacher residency a plus
- Experience with University school of education a plus
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent skills in analyzing and solving problems, while communicating process and results to diverse constituents; outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to complete multiple responsibilities simultaneously and under time pressure
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills necessary to developing professional relationships with network partners
- Must be willing to travel

The Position
UTRU is seeking an experienced, resourceful, and innovative individual with strong leadership skills and advanced analytical abilities to develop and promote a policy platform designed to advance Urban Teacher Residencies nationally. This individual will play a key role in developing UTRU, and must be strategic, creative, and comfortable leading their own initiative. The Policy Director will report to the President and work closely with her to create a policy plan that will include policy-related meetings, conferences, workshops, forums and other presentations to inform policy-makers and funders about the value and impact of the residency model.
Responsibilities
- Developing UTRU's first policy agenda
- Conduct research and review relevant qualitative and quantitative research and legislative monitoring
- Develop fact sheets, testimony, and policy briefs
- Monitor teacher preparation investments and evaluation nationally, legislation, initiatives, policy gaps and opportunities
- Monitor and document policy ideas developing at state and regional levels
- Provide policy support to residency partners at state level
- Attend meetings with congressional staff, policymakers/experts, and issue stakeholders, effectively communicating UTRU's policy priorities
- Identify key conferences, panels and congressional meetings for UTRU and its partners to attend
- Organize policy symposia, forums, and other events to educate policymakers about residencies
- Develop relationships/connections with policy experts and key stakeholders
- Produce internal policy memoranda
- Work with media as appropriate
