This recent Hechinger Report article discusses challenges for new teachers and teachers that are career changers. BTR grad Ana Arroyo-Montano discusses her experiences as a new teacher and her challenges. Various teacher preparation programs are mentioned, but it is emphasized that teaching programs need to evolve to meet the needs of their participants as well as the students the program is serving (as demonstrated by BTR now requiring certification of its participants to teach English language learners.)
