Creating a New Teaching Profession out next month

A new book titled Creating a New Teaching Profession, edited by Jane Hannaway and Dan Goldhaber, will be out next month.  One recommendation coming from this book is to “deselect” the least effective teachers.  Removing the bottom 5 to 10 percent of ineffective teachers could boost student test scores over the next 20 years.  The book also discusses how over time the profession has been attracting less academically able students and suggestions on restructuring the profession.
