Study Finds First-Year Teacher Attrition at 10%

NCES released a report this week titled “Beginning Teacher Attrition and Mobility: Results From the First Through Third Waves of the 2007-08 Beginning Teacher Longitudinal Study (BTLS).” The report finds that about 10 percent of new teachers who started in 2007 or 2008 were not teaching in 2009-2010. Results were somewhat better for beginning public school teachers who were assigned a mentor. Read more in Education Week.
