Launching an Urban Teacher Residency with UTRU

Preparing for the RRP

Startup programs must meet the following criteria before admittance to the RRP:

  • Strong partnership between a high-needs district, an institution of higher education and other eligible partners
  • Designated lead partner
  • Sustainable funding model
  • Commitment to local assessment and evaluation
  • Transparent, legally binding agreements between the UTR and all Residency participants

If you’re familiar with the basics of the Residency for Residencies Program and serious about transforming teacher preparation in your district, UTRU can provide your team the foundation and support necessary to launch an effective Urban Teacher Residency.

The Program Readiness Questionnaire

Successful Residency programs grow out of a strong collaboration between a high-needs school district, an innovative university and (often) a not-for-profit partner. One of these partners assumes the lead role for managing and delivering the program. Teams should have proven financial and managerial capacity and a track record of successfully implementing programs on a district-wide or citywide level.

To help us learn more about your program and your interest in Urban Teacher Residency United, please take a few moments to fill out the questionnaire below.

Please answer as many of the questions as possible. Be sure to convey your ideas and your passion in the final question at the bottom of this form.
